A Hindu wedding for 180 guests, with the ceremony held in the gardens of the Fairmont Empress under open sky and the reception in the Empress Ballroom. The Mehndi and Sangeet were hosted at the Delta Hotel directly across the road, and we arranged a ferry crossing for the wedding party, which turned the arrival itself into part of the celebration.
All 180 guests stayed at the Empress. Many took whale watching tours between events, which is the kind of thing that turns a wedding into a holiday for the people who travelled for it.
Victoria works well for a west coast guest list from Vancouver, Seattle or Calgary, and for families who want a landmark building rather than a resort.
Calgary (YYC) is roughly ninety minutes from Banff by road. Victoria (YYJ) takes short flights from Vancouver, Seattle, Calgary and Toronto, or the ferry from Vancouver. Both are straightforward for guests already in North America.
