Catering

Indian menus were prepared to a high standard for both the wedding lunch and the dinner reception at the wedding we ran here.

Ceremony permissions

What you are allowed to do here

These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works, and the ones a resort brochure never answers. Where a switch is off it means we have not confirmed it, not necessarily that it is forbidden. Ask us and we will get it in writing.

Mandap

Whether the property can build or accommodate a mandap, and in which venues.

Baraat with a horse

A very small number of properties permit a ghodi on site. Karisma includes one as standard; most do not.

Dhol and live music

Almost always permitted, but with a hard curfew that varies by property and by which venue you are in.

Open flame and havan

The most commonly refused request. Some properties allow a contained agni with a fire plan, others prohibit it outright.

Jain and pure vegetarian

No onion, no garlic and sattvic menus are solvable everywhere, but only when raised at contracting.

Adults only

Several of the best-marketed South Asian packages sit at adults-only resorts. Count the children on your list first.

Our view of this property

We ran a full Anand Karaj here for 160 guests, and it remains one of the most striking weddings we have planned. The ceremony took place in Mt. Stephen Hall, with its soaring ceilings, stone arches and stained glass — a room that does something to a sacred ceremony no beach gazebo can.

The wedding lunch and the evening reception were both held in the Cascade Ballroom, with a cocktail hour in the Rundle Bar in between. The Indian cuisine was prepared to a genuinely high standard across both meals. All 160 guests stayed on property, which made the whole event feel contained and unhurried.

Banff is not a budget option and the season is short. What it offers instead is a wedding that no other family in your circle has had, ninety minutes from Calgary airport, with no visas required for guests already living in Canada.

Package and pricing

Getting your guests here

Calgary (YYC) is roughly ninety minutes from Banff by road. Victoria (YYJ) takes short flights from Vancouver, Seattle, Calgary and Toronto, or the ferry from Vancouver. Both are straightforward for guests already in North America.
