Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit coast north of it offer jungle-and-mountain scenery that reads very differently from the flat Caribbean beach, and a walkable old town that gives guests something to do between events. Punta Mita at the northern end holds the luxury properties; the Marina and Nuevo Vallarta zones hold the large-capacity all-inclusives that work for a 200-guest wedding.
Good access from the west coast and from Texas, and a strong option for couples who want the wedding party to have an actual town to explore rather than only a resort.
Puerto Vallarta (PVR) takes nonstops from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Transfers run ten minutes to Nuevo Vallarta, about an hour to Punta Mita.
