What this destination is genuinely good for, what it is not, and the practical detail that decides whether your guests actually come.
Jamaica
November to mid-April.
Caribbean
Jamaica is the least crowded of the three big Caribbean options for South Asian weddings, which is precisely its appeal for couples who do not want their wedding to look like the last four they attended. Montego Bay is the practical base: the airport is close to the resort corridor and several properties, including Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall and Grand Palladium Jamaica, run South Asian wedding programmes with real Indian menus.
Jamaica also solves a specific problem well. Its resorts tend to have more separate outdoor venues per property than the Mexican equivalents, which matters when you are staging a Mehndi, a Sangeet, a ceremony and a reception across four days and want each to feel different.
Montego Bay (MBJ) takes nonstops from New York, Newark, Toronto, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte and Philadelphia. Most Rose Hall properties are fifteen to twenty-five minutes from the terminal; Negril is around ninety minutes.
Jamaica has one of the simplest legal marriage processes in the Caribbean for non-residents, typically requiring only twenty-four hours in country plus proof of identity and single status. This makes it a genuine option for couples who want the legal and religious ceremonies in the same place. Confirm current requirements before advising.
US and Canadian citizens do not require a visa. Indian passport holders generally require a Jamaican visa unless holding certain valid US, Canadian or UK visas. Check early; Jamaican visa processing can be slower than Mexico or the DR.
Tell us your guest count, your departure cities and roughly when you want to marry, and we will come back with three or four properties here that can genuinely deliver the events you have in mind.
