What this destination is genuinely good for, what it is not, and the practical detail that decides whether your guests actually come.

November to April. Hurricane season runs June through November, with September and October carrying the highest risk.
Mexico
More South Asian destination weddings happen along this stretch of Mexican coastline than anywhere else in the world, and the reason is infrastructure rather than scenery. The resorts here have been hosting Hindu, Sikh and Gujarati weddings for over a decade. They have the ballroom square footage for a 300-guest reception, kitchens that can produce a genuine Indian menu for five days running, and events teams who already know what a baraat is and how long a Hindu ceremony actually takes.
Cancun's airport is the practical advantage. It takes direct flights from more North American cities than any other Caribbean gateway, which matters enormously when your guest list is split between New Jersey, the Bay Area, Toronto and Delhi. Transfer times from the airport range from twenty minutes at Moon Palace to about ninety minutes at the far end of the Riviera Maya.
The trade-off is that this is the most heavily booked corridor in the market. Peak-season Saturdays at the strongest properties go eighteen to twenty-four months out.
Cancun International (CUN) is served nonstop from New York, Newark, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. For groups splitting across three or more origin cities, a group air contract usually beats individual bookings on both price and change flexibility.
Most couples marrying in Mexico complete the legal marriage at home and hold a symbolic ceremony at the resort. A civil marriage in Quintana Roo requires blood tests performed in Mexico, four witnesses with valid ID, apostilled birth certificates and translated documents, and a waiting period on arrival. A Hindu or Sikh religious ceremony is not itself recognised as a civil marriage in Mexico. Verify current requirements with the resort's legal coordinator before advising any couple.
Canadian and US citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays. Indian passport holders generally require either a Mexican visa or hold a valid US, Canadian, Schengen, UK or Japanese visa, which can permit visa-free entry. This is the single most common guest-side problem on a Mexico wedding and needs to be raised with the guest list at save-the-date stage, not at booking.
Tell us your guest count, your departure cities and roughly when you want to marry, and we will come back with three or four properties here that can genuinely deliver the events you have in mind.
