Flight length moves your attendance rate more than almost anything else you decide. A guest who will happily fly three hours will think twice about seven with a connection, and that difference shows up in your final headcount. When guests are departing from three or more cities, a group air contract usually beats individual bookings on both price and flexibility.
Surrey and Delta hold one of the largest Punjabi-Sikh populations outside Punjab, and the wedding culture here is correspondingly serious: multi-day, large, and rooted in gurdwara tradition. Any destination proposal that does not take the Anand Karaj seriously will not get a second meeting in this market.
Geography shapes the shortlist. From YVR, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta are the short nonstops, Cancun is a longer nonstop, and the Caribbean generally means a connection. Hawaii is a straightforward option that many families overlook. There is also nonstop service to Delhi, which matters for the many families here with close relatives still in Punjab.
This is the one market in North America with an entrenched local competitor in this niche, an agency that has been serving the Vancouver South Asian community since the 1970s. We are not going to out-local them. What we can do is be more useful: publish the room-night minimums, the ballroom capacities, the outside vendor fees and the catering realities that nobody in this market currently puts in writing.
